Introduction:

In this Commandment Corner lesson Teacher Hezekiah will spotlight on the spirit of temperance and compassion. Emphasising that we should never render evil for evil but overcome evil with good.
  • Proverbs 7:1-2 “My sonne, keepe my words, and lay vp my commandments with thee.
2Keepe my commandements, and liue: and my law as the apple of thine eye.”
    • Baruch 4:1This is the Booke of the commandments of God: and the Law that endureth for euer: all they that keepe it shall come to life: but such as leaue it, shall die.”
    • Amos 3:1 “Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,”

  • 1st Peter 3:9 “Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.”

  • Romans 12:21 “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”

  • 1st Thessalonians 5:15 “See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.”

  • Matthew 26:52-53 “Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. 53  Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

  • Leviticus 19:17 “Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.”

  • Sirach/Ecclesiasticus/Ben Sira 28:7-9 “Remember the commandments, and bear no malice to thy neighbour: remember the covenant of the Highest, and wink at ignorance.8 Abstain from strife, and thou shalt diminish thy sins: for a furious man will kindle strife,9 A sinful man disquieteth friends, and maketh debate among them that be at peace.”

    • Proverbs 26:4 “Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. 5  Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.”

  • 1st Samuel 18:9-11,14 “And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.
  • 10 ¶ And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand. 11  And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice. 14  And David behaved himself wisely in all his ways; and the LORD was with him.”

  • 1st Samuel 24:1-7 “And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of En-gedi.* 2  Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats. 3  And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave. 4  And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul’s robe privily. 5  And it came to pass afterward, that David’s heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul’s skirt. 6  And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD’s anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD. 7  So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.”

  • Deuteronomy 28:37 “And thou shalt become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead thee. “

  • 2nd Esdras 5:54 “Consider thou therefore also, how that ye are less of stature than those that were before you.”

  • Proverbs 22:24-25 “ Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: 25  Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.”

  • Proverbs 29:22 “An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.”
  • Job 1:1 “There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.”

Matthew 26:6-13 This Scripture Must Be Read Anytime The Gospel Is Spoken Of

“¶ Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, 7  There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. 8  But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? 9  For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. 10  When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. 11  For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always. 12  For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial. 13  Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.”

Shalom/Peace
